Storefront region and purchasing account
Shadowrocket isn't available in the mainland China storefront. If it doesn't appear in search, check the country or region of the account used for the App Store instead of repeatedly trying different app names. Your Apple ID's country or region determines which storefront you see; your device's physical location, system language, and the region in a web link don't change that account setting. After opening the US product link on this page, purchase availability still depends on what the App Store shows for your account.
Check the Apple ID shown under Media & Purchases. It may differ from the account used for other device services, so the name at the top of Settings alone doesn't confirm which account owns the purchase. Note the account used to buy the app; you'll need it to find purchased items, check payment history, or restore the download on another device.
How to check your country or region
- Open Settings on your device, then tap your Apple ID account at the top.
- Tap Media & Purchases, choose View Account, and complete any required authentication.
- Open Country/Region to see the storefront setting for your account.
- To make a change, use the Change Country or Region option on that page. Review the requirements shown by the system before continuing.
Menu labels and confirmation steps may vary by system version; follow what your device displays. Before changing regions, you may need to address your account balance, existing subscriptions, Family Sharing, or payment information. These steps explain where to find the setting and don't guarantee that your account is eligible to change regions. Check Apple's account page for eligibility and when the change takes effect.
On the product page, review the price and compatibility before buying. If the web page is available but the App Store says the app isn't available in your current region, that's a storefront availability issue, not a client connection problem. If payment is complete but the download hasn't started, check your purchase history and the App Store status before trying to confirm the transaction again.
Three ways to verify the official app
Use the name to find the app; check the developer, icon, and app ID to confirm it's the right product.
- Developer
- Shadow Launch Technology Limited
- Official app icon
- White background with a blue-purple outlined rocket, matching the official icon in this site's header
- App ID
932747118
If search results show Shadowrocket or a similar name, don't rely on the name alone before buying. Open the product details and check the full developer name, Shadow Launch Technology Limited. Then compare the official icon and confirm the app ID in the product link. All three should match; a similar name, description, or icon color on its own doesn't prove it's the same product.
The app ID is the numeric identifier in the link, shown as id932747118. It isn't a search ranking, price, or review count. The product title may vary by storefront language, but always verify this identifier. The main button on this page leads to that App Store product page. If you later open a result from search, verify it again rather than relying on your earlier check.
You can find the developer name in the product details or developer information. If search results show several similar names, open each listing and check its details instead of choosing the first result. Use the official icon as a supporting clue alongside the developer and app ID. Focus on these verifiable product details, not marketing copy, screenshot counts, or how many protocol names appear in the description.
Before buying, check the price shown on the button and the product name. If the listing doesn't match the details above, return to the product link on this page and check again. The App Store shows current pricing, system requirements, and update history; this guide doesn't substitute fixed version numbers or dates for store information. App updates are also managed through the App Store. You can enable automatic updates in your device settings or check the updates list in your account.
Buying and opening Shadowrocket on iPhone
After verifying the developer, icon, and app ID on your iPhone, check the App Store compatibility section to make sure your device meets the requirements. Use the system requirements shown on the App Store page rather than relying on system version numbers from other sources. If the listing says a system update is required, first check whether your device supports it and plan the update around your backup and maintenance needs.
For a first-time purchase, follow the App Store price button and system confirmation steps. Accounts that already own the app may see a redownload option. Once the download is complete, open Shadowrocket from the Home Screen or App Library. First, make sure you have your own subscription or server details. Buying the client grants access to the app; it doesn't fill in server addresses, credentials, or subscription details for you.
VPN configuration permission and connection checks
The first time you try to connect, the system may ask to allow a VPN configuration and confirm with your device passcode or biometric authentication. This permission lets the client create the system configuration needed for a connection; it isn't another app purchase. Approve only after confirming that the request was initiated by Shadowrocket, which you just opened. If you don't allow it, the app may still open, but the connection process can't continue as expected.
Granting permission doesn't mean your existing details are ready to use. Next, import your own information, select a server, and check Global Routing. Config, Proxy, and Direct are the interface labels for configuration, proxy, and direct connection modes. Choose based on your existing configuration and what you're testing; don't change several settings at random just to see a connection status. For step-by-step instructions, continue to the Getting Started guide.
If an App Store download gets stuck, check your network, available storage, and account status shown by the store. If the app opens but you can't access anything after connecting, troubleshoot your server, Global Routing, DNS, and rules instead of buying the app again. Check store purchase, device installation, and client connection as three separate stages to avoid mixing up different issues.
iPad and other compatible devices
A single Shadowrocket purchase with the same Apple ID can be used on compatible iPhone and iPad devices. On your iPad, open the App Store and make sure Media & Purchases is signed in to the original purchasing account. Then find the app in purchased items. If the page still asks for payment, check the account, purchase history, and app ID instead of buying it a second time just because you're using another device.
Check the App Store listing for iPad system requirements. A wider screen may change how lists, details, and settings are arranged; device orientation and system version can also affect the visible layout. Find options by their interface labels, such as Home, Config, and Settings, rather than by how far a button appears from the edge of a screenshot. Using the same purchasing account doesn't mean both devices have the same server or Global Routing selection.
After installing on iPad, check separately that your own subscription, server details, and configuration files are in place. The app icon appearing doesn't mean your connection details have been restored. If you import a configuration you've saved, check that its server references, policy names, and rules are suitable for this device. Store private credentials and share them only through methods you control.
Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Vision
The compatibility section of the same App Store product page lists Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Vision. To use Shadowrocket on one of these devices, check the listing for the same product on that device. Check the App Store page for supported devices, system requirements, and whether Universal Purchase applies. A purchase on iPhone doesn't guarantee compatibility with every device or system version.
The steps on this page focus on iPhone and iPad. Remote control, windows, and input methods may differ on other compatible devices, so follow the interface on your device after installation. Store compatibility and configuration are separate: even if the app can be installed, you'll still need your own service details and should check the connection settings for your use case.
Restore purchases after changing or resetting a device
With the Apple ID used for the original purchase, you can usually redownload Shadowrocket from purchased items in the App Store without paying again. Start by finding the original purchase record, not by searching again and immediately tapping the price button. Changing devices, deleting the app, or resetting the system doesn't automatically sign you in to the original purchasing account. Verify the account first, then restore the app.
- On the new device, open the App Store and go to your account.
- Open Purchased. On some system versions, app purchases may appear in the apps list; follow the menu shown on your device.
- Find Shadowrocket, verify the developer and app ID, then use the redownload option.
- After opening the app, import your existing subscription or server details, then check connection permissions and Global Routing again.
If you can't find the app in purchased items, first confirm the original transaction was completed and that you're using the same account. You can also check your purchase history and whether the item is hidden. If your account's storefront has changed, the app's current availability may affect restoration. Follow the App Store prompts; not finding the app in the list right away doesn't mean you have to pay again.
App purchases and configuration are restored separately
Redownloading restores the app itself. Whether subscriptions, manually entered servers, configuration files, and personal settings from your old device transfer depends on the migration or backup method you used. Before changing devices, make sure you can retrieve the details you need and keep a usable configuration backup. Don't delete the only copy of your settings from the old device before confirming what's in your backup.
After importing your details on the new device, check the server information, then verify the rule file and FINAL policy, and finally test the connection. If a subscription imports but won't connect, check the existing service and configuration. If a subscription update fails, check whether the link is still valid. A purchase record can't replace these details or prove that a server is currently available.
If you want to use a purchase through Family Sharing, first check whether the App Store product page supports it and whether your current Family Sharing settings and member eligibility apply. Availability depends on the listing and your account settings; don't assume every member, region, or device can restore the purchase. Restoring your own purchase and using a family member's purchase are different cases, so check them separately.
Price and one-time purchase terms
Shadowrocket is a closed-source commercial app sold as a one-time purchase, with no monthly client fee. The US storefront reference price is $2.99; prices are shown in local currency in other storefronts, and the App Store purchase confirmation shows the actual amount charged. Check the currency and confirmation details before paying; the US reference price may not match the price in another storefront.
The App Store manages the app purchase, while the status of subscriptions or servers you already have is managed separately. Their validity, costs, and issues aren't interchangeable: the app opening normally doesn't mean a server is reachable, and an expired subscription doesn't invalidate your app purchase. When troubleshooting, first identify whether the issue is with the store transaction, app operation, or existing service details, then consult the relevant guidance.
After confirming your purchase, you can manage future updates through the App Store. Consider saving important configuration before updating, then check your usual connection and rule settings afterward. Prices, compatibility, and purchase conditions are based on what the product page shows at the time; this page provides a checklist, not a substitute for the store's purchase confirmation. For more on storefront regions, purchases, and restoration, read the complete App Store guide in the installation guide.
Download and purchase FAQs
Why can't I find Shadowrocket in the App Store?
Shadowrocket isn't available in the mainland China storefront. Check the country or region for the Apple ID used for Media & Purchases, then use this page's product link. Opening the web page doesn't mean the app is available to buy in your account's storefront; availability is determined by what the App Store shows.
Why can't I download the app even though the product page opens?
Check your account's storefront region, device compatibility, purchase and payment status, available storage, and network connection, in that order. Use the App Store messages to tell an incomplete purchase from a pending download, and don't repeatedly confirm payment.
Do I have to pay again when I get a new device?
Sign in with the Apple ID used for the original purchase and redownload the app from your App Store account's purchased items. You usually won't need to pay again. If a price still appears, check the purchase history, account, and product ID, and confirm the original transaction was completed.
Can I install Shadowrocket on my iPad after buying it on my iPhone?
Yes. Shadowrocket purchased with the same Apple ID can be installed on compatible iPhone and iPad devices. Use the original purchasing account to find it in purchased items. Check the App Store listing for system requirements; confirm your configuration separately on each device.
Can I get it from the same App Store listing on Mac or Apple TV?
The compatibility section of the same App Store product page lists Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Vision. Check the App Store page on your target device for device support, system requirements, and whether Universal Purchase applies.
Where should I start if the app opens in English?
Look for the interface labels Home, Add Server, Config, Global Routing, and Settings. Import your existing subscription or server details first, then choose Global Routing and connect. The Getting Started guide uses these English interface labels.
